Happy Anniversary, Rachel and Charles!

The day of their anniversary shoot, the happy couple showed up with an extra little sparkle in their eye – they had just closed on their new house! Sara loves to be there for key moments in a couple’s life, and she was so happy to be able to capture the extra happiness on their faces as we spent the day at Gerald’s Farm in Exeter, Rhode Island photographing their engagement session.

On the big day, Sara met Rachel at her house as she got ready. We got some shots of Rachel and her parents before heading to St. Barnaby’s church in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. As Portsmouth natives, the couple wanted their wedding to take place in this grand, beautiful church, surrounded by their loved ones. They saw each other for the first time that day in the church as well. It was a very special moment, in a beautiful place. 🙂

After the ceremony, we had a two-hour block of time in which to get some fun shots of the bridal party, the couple, and their parents. This was where the fun began!

The bride and groom and bridal party got into the limo and followed Sara, as she stopped at many random spots along the way for photos. We stopped at a stone wall, a vineyard… all sorts of random locations in Porstmouth, Rhode Island. The funniest thing – you’d think these two were co-mayors of the town! It seemed that every single time we stopped and got out, someone who was walking or driving by would come over (who knew them!) to congratulate the couple. So funny!

Everyone was having a blast and coming up with photo ideas… Gibby’s (Charles’) mom wanted us to replicate a photo she had of Gibby and his brother from when they were kids, and Rachel wanted the bridal party to form a heart on the beach with the couple in the middle. So much fun! And it turns out Charles (Gibby) is a climber! He (and Rachel!) climbed everything – from a gate, to a lifeguard chair on the beach. 🙂

The theme was nautical, with a touch of rustic, and a very laid-back vibe. Rachel and Gibby love Rhode Island, and proved it with Del’s Lemonade at their wedding. 😉

At the end of the night, there was a wedding across the bay – guess who got fireworks and didn’t have to pay for it? So funny – Rachel’s parents said, “Oh yeah, we bought those for you!” Haha!

On your anniversary, we’re thinking of you two. I’m sure this summer finds you driving around in style in the Caravan that Gibby always wanted! 😉
