Capturing newborn and milestone portraits for your baby’s first year is one of the best ways to document all of the changes that happen as they grow. But sometimes clients wonder when the best times are for sessions. And, what happens after your babies turn a year old? Today, we’re talking about the most ideal times to capture your sweet little baby in our studio during their first year (and beyond!)
Newborn Portraits
Newborn portraits are kind of a no brainer. Your little one is just born and you want to capture all of those tiny details! Babies should come into the studio between 7 and 10 days after birth so they’re still curling up perfectly. Make sure you book your session ahead of time, while you’re still pregnant, so we know to expect you!
3 to 6 Month Milestone Portraits
Another must have milestone session for your little one is the 3 to 6 month milestone session. This is a great session for capturing your baby’s emerging personality. During these sessions babies aren’t really sitting up but we can get some super cute photos of them during tummy time! And those little smiles are the best!!
6 to 9 Month Milestone Portraits
This milestone session is often the biggest one in the studio! Your baby will be sitting up and holding their head up. These milestone portraits capture all of those new and exciting skills your baby’s developed since we last saw them!
First Birthday Milestone Portraits
When your baby turns one, it’s time to celebrate! Whether you want to do a cake smash or not, bringing your toddler into the studio to celebrate is always a good time. We love these sessions because one year olds are so much fun – and always adorable.
Here at the studio, we’ll always work to make sure your baby’s first year portraits are cohesive from session to session. This helps ensure that your portraits will always look great on display together – or in a beautiful heirloom Storybook Album. The colors, style, and inspiration can definitely build through each milestone session!
After They Turn One…
After your baby turns one, we recommend having a family session once a year. This is a chance to document your family and how they are RIGHT now. And, remember, for the first five years of your child’s life, they won’t have school portraits you can rely on for an updated photo. Booking a portrait session or family session is the best way to make sure you’ve captured them at every stage of their life. Mini sessions or holiday sessions are also fun ways to make sure you’re photographing your babies, but a family session is always worth it!
Chapter Programs
If all of these milestone portraits sound like something your family would be interested in, make sure to read on about our Chapter Programs. Chapter 1 is perfect for the family who wants to capture the entire year of your little oneAnd guess what? You don’t even have to remember to book the sessions! You get 4 photography sessions in this package and we recommend using them for newborn or maternity portraits, 6, 9, and 12 month sessions.
When your family’s Chapter One ends, it’s time to think about Chapter 2! This program helps you capture professional portraits of your little one as they grow past their first year towards grade school! You have four photo sessions as well, one a year at ages 2, 3, 4 and 5. Both packages come with canvas prints, an image box, slideshow of image, and a discount on any additional products during your ordering session. And of course, you can upgrade either to include one of our classic Storybook Albums.
