Originally constructed in 1898, Rosecliff Mansion was the summer home of the Oelrichs family. During the height of its splendor in the Gilded Age, Rosecliff was host to several parties during the ‘Newport Season’. Visitors gracing its halls included American dynastic families such as the Astors and the Vanderbilts. Today, the exquisite mansion has been maintained in all its heyday splendor by The Preservation Society of Newport County. Now, it primarily functions as a museum, gardens, and a private wedding and event venue.

Rosecliff Mansion Newport weddings take place in a total of three distinctive spaces. Your selection of these spaces will vary and rely upon whether or not you are hosting a ceremony on site.

Ceremonies

If you choose to host your ceremony onsite, Rosecliff Mansion offers ceremonies in two spaces. Outdoor wedding ceremonies overlook the rocky coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. The rear facade of the mansion home features an expansive lawn with the gentle lull of the waves crashing over the shore below. Wedding ceremonies in this space may be hosted from Memorial Day through the end of September. However, in the event of inclement weather, the venue allows for wedding ceremonies to be moved indoors to the Salon. An outdoor wedding ceremony can comfortably accommodate the venue’s maximum capacity of 220 guests. However, a wedding ceremony in the Salon can seat up to 140 guests.

Receptions

Evening celebrations take place at Rosecliff Mansion’s elegant ballroom. During the mansion’s original construction, it was one of the few ballrooms in Newport that was virtually all-white in design. Surrounded by views of the meticulously manicured gardens and the coastline, seated dinner celebrations and an evening of festivities take place in the largest private ballroom in Newport. And yes, the iconic red heart-shaped stairway at Rosecliff Mansion is near the ballroom. Allowing you to sneak away during your reception for wedding photos with the stairway in the backdrop.

Rosecliff Mansion Wedding Capacity

A Rosecliff Mansion Newport Wedding can host a total of up to 160 seated guests. However, should your wedding require additional space, adjacent to the ballroom, in the Salone, the mansion can expand to accommodate an additional 60 guests for a total of 220 attendees.

Rosecliff Mansion weddings provide a total event time of up to five hours from 6 pm to 11 pm. Furnishings & Rentals

The Rosecliff Mansion wedding costs list above are for the venue fee only and not yet inclusive of furnishings. Items such as tables and chairs are available to rent from the venue as an add-on fee. If you wish to acquire your furniture rentals from an outside wedding vendor, it may be required that you first receive approval from The Preservation Society of Newport County.
