Congratulations to Michelle and Ryan! They planned a stunning Glen Manor House wedding day in Portsmouth, RI and we were thrilled to be able to photograph it. We love the Glen Manor House for so many reasons. The fact that it’s just such a beautiful location where couples can have their day from start to finish is definitely a major plus! The Glen’s property is unique on its own along with the different rooms to have your reception. There is also a ton of photo locations and options. Michelle and Ryan both prepared for their celebration onsite and then were able to have a sweet first look before their ceremony.
Michelle and Ryan’s wedding day was pretty DIY in the best way! Her bridesmaids helped with the flowers, Michelle wore her grandmother’s wedding gown, and they found gently used decor online to give a second life for their reception. By focusing on areas that they could “DIY”, Michelle and Ryan were able to go all out in the places that mattered for their wedding day – like photography and the food (they hired one of our favorite caterers, Blackstone Caterers, by the way – yum!). It’s such a good reminder that wedding days are about what YOU two want and feel is important. Michelle and Ryan’s day felt so like them and that’s what really matters. Congratulations again, Michelle and Ryan!
Glen Manor House Weddings
Glen Manor House is a historic manor on the water in Portsmouth RI. It’s grand, it’s full of memories, and truly stunning. We love that there’s no formal ballroom, so reception and dinner tables are generally split between the rooms of the house. It’s such a fun twist on how receptions are typically set up! With beautiful gardens and a historic house, this venue is a dream come true!
A Tip for Our Couples…
Wedding days can be expensive. Between rentals, vendors, decor and so much more, it begins to add up. We love that Michelle and Ryan chose to use decor that they had found online from other couples. They repurposed decor and were able to bring together a beautiful reception without breaking the bank! Not only does it save you money, it’s resourceful and sustainable. Whether you’re looking for that perfect decoration or are ready to let go of your own pieces, think about sharing them online so another couple might be able to use them on their special day! There is nothing wrong with reusing or repurposing decor.
But, it doesn’t stop there. Michelle also wore her grandmother’s wedding gown – there’s another super beautiful and meaningful way to “reuse” wedding items! Our gowns sit in boxes for years to come hoping a daughter or granddaughter will use them. Go for it! It’s so special and a nice way to honor your family’s legacy, too!
