Courtney & David – Glen Manor House – Portsmouth, Rhode Island

Happy Anniversary, Courtney and David. 🙂

Lauren and I went to high school with David! It was so cool to meet Courtney and be able to photograph their wedding. 🙂

Lauren and I have become friendly with this lovely bride, and Courtney is even planning to go dress shopping with Lauren when the time comes! Courtney is a schoolteacher, but she has a special place in her heart for wedding dress shopping. (Any time she has an excuse, she will go!)

Courtney and David live in Newport, so we had their engagement session there, since it’s a special place for them. So much FUN: While we were capturing the happy couples’ engagement images, The Rhode Show was there filming for Wedding Week 2012. I was the featured photographer, and Courtney and David are the couple in the video. 🙂 Courtney said, “We wanted someone who was modern but has that classical touch. Someone we could get along with really easily, someone we felt comfortable with.” So happy you chose to work with us, Courtney!

On the wedding day…when I pulled up the driveway to Courtney’s Cranston home to photograph her before the ceremony, I knew instantly why she felt so comfortable coming to the studio. We share the same taste! We like the same neutral colors – in fact, the same mushroom and orange on the walls of her home were the same colors on the walls in the studio! Courtney even chose those colors for her bouquet, which tied in with the fall foliage this time of year.

After a beautiful church ceremony, we headed to Glen Manor. It was raining that morning, and I was actually a little nervous because we were scheduled to take photos on the gorgeous grounds of Glen Manor. But by the time we left the church, the sun was out and we got some stunning photos!

The reception was so special and perfect for them. I really believe that personal details really make a wedding. For example, Courtney has a food allergy, so they had an ice cream bar instead of a cake. 🙂 And the food was amazing – lots of beautiful cheese and spreads throughout the cocktail hour, too. Blackstone catering did a great job!

Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day, Courtney and David. See you at dress shopping, Courtney! 😉
