Josefine & John | Simple and Sweet Providence Courthouse Wedding  | Providence RI

While some weddings are all about grandeur, Josefine and John chose a different kind of beauty — one rooted in simplicity and meaning. Their Providence courthouse wedding was an intimate affair shared only with their closest family members, creating a calm and heartfelt atmosphere that perfectly reflected who they are as a couple.

They chose to tie the knot on a Tuesday — a date that held special significance for them. By stepping away from tradition, they were able to create a peaceful, private celebration centered on what mattered most: their love and commitment to one another.

One of the most endearing moments came at the end of their Providence courthouse wedding ceremony. After saying “I do,” John carried Josefine through a heart-shaped cutout in a piece of fabric they had decorated with their names and wedding date — a fun and whimsical moment that brought big smiles to everyone there.

Afterward, the couple toasted with a small group of loved ones before heading out for portraits in Downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Then, we made our way to Newport Harbor Island Resort in Newport, Rhode Island for even more photos by the Newport lighthouse. Even with the wind blowing strong, Josefine and John remained full of joy, relaxed, and totally present in the moment.

Josefine and John — it was such a joy to be part of your day. Thank you for letting us capture your love in such an authentic and personal way!

Why Intimate Weddings Are So Special

Your wedding should feel like you. For some couples, that means a big party with a full guest list. For others, a smaller, more meaningful ceremony is the perfect fit. Elopements and intimate weddings have become increasingly popular, and it’s no surprise why — they’re genuine, emotional, and deeply personal.

Whether it’s just the two of you or a small group of loved ones, keeping your celebration intimate allows you to focus on what truly matters. There’s less pressure, more freedom, and so many sweet moments to savor. It’s a beautiful way to start your marriage with intention and connection.

A Tip for Couples Planning Their Big Day

When choosing your wedding date, don’t feel boxed in by tradition. It doesn’t have to be a Saturday or a popular date on the calendar. Pick a day that holds meaning for you — whether it’s the day you first met, the anniversary of a special milestone, or simply a date that feels right. Weekday weddings can offer more flexibility with vendors and venues and can make your celebration feel even more unique and personal.
