Kara & Adam | Intimate Providence Elopement | Providence, RI

This COVID-19 virus has caused lots of changes for all of us. Between having to shelter in place at home and slowing down in our business, it’s been a much different spring than any of us anticipated. Not only has it impacted our lives greatly, it has changed so many wedding plans for couples. Adam and Kara were supposed to have a large, beautiful wedding this spring but because of the virus, they couldn’t have the wedding they originally planned.

Instead, they had an intimate Providence, Rhode Island elopement, with their family calling in via video and a private evening together instead of their big reception.  This was our first COVID-19 wedding and one we will never forget BUT it will not be our last. What Adam and Kara’s wedding shows is that LOVE wins and you cannot stop love! You can not pause LOVE and in times like this we need LOVE!

Wedding Plans Change…

When Adam and Kara found out their wedding day was going to have to change because of the virus, the two decided they didn’t want to wait until next year to get married. Instead, they opted for an elopement in their friend’s backyard right here in Providence, Rhode Island. We followed all of the guidelines given at the time of their celebration and there were less than 5 of us together when they said “I do.”

Their elopement was even more special to us because we actually photographed Kara’s cousin’s wedding, too (a few years back)! Since not everyone could attend, their friends and family watched the ceremony through a Zoom call (a term we all know so well), thanks to Mike Picard Motion Pictures. It was a bittersweet call, but we’re all glad they could be there to toast and celebrate Adam and Kara virtually! It was important for them to get married this year BUT they did not want to sacrifice quality photographs. They plan on having a HUGE bash next year with all their family and friends for a vow renewal in 2021.

Providence RI Elopement during COVID-19

This is seriously one wedding we’ll never forget. Adam and Kara were able to have a gorgeous private reception space set up for them in Newport that night, overlooking the water in a private condo! Instead of photographing them in the space, we went in before their arrival and captured all the details alone to reduce any risks. Not only that, but we photographed the newlyweds from a distance, using only verbal prompts.  Our job as your photographer evolves during a crisis like this. But, getting quality photograph to remember your day never will. Thank you, Adam and Kara, for trusting that we would capture your special memories no matter the circumstances!

A Tip for Our Couples…

Love WINS. Although many couples have had to make tough decisions, no one is going to stop getting married. Instead, they’re going to adapt and so will your wedding vendors. We want you to be able to celebrate and have the day of your dreams! And, we will do anything you need to help make it happen.  We will stand by your side and capture your magical moments. Just because they are different than what you first envisioned does not take away the powerful meaning of saying “I do”! Capture it! You can’t stop LOVE! #WeddingStrong

If you’re a #SZPDreamCouple figuring out how your big day is going to look because of COVID-19, let’s chat! We’d love to help you make your special day the best it can be given the circumstances. We’ll share any tips we’ve learned from other vendors and other couples making hard decisions too. We’re all in this together!
